As I near my ninth year at GDRSD, it is remarkable (unbelievable, too!) that I have reached a significant milestone in my career as Director of Technology & Digital Learning. Through strategic efforts with my team, we have secured over $1 million in competitive grants, marking a pivotal moment in transforming educational landscapes within our district!

These local, state, and federal grants, including allocations from the E-rate program and Emergency Connectivity Fund, have provided student Chromebooks and enhanced general school infrastructure. This strategic investment has played a crucial role in narrowing the digital divide and fostering a more equitable academic environment. Without question, the dollars saved from our capital and operating lines have also been beneficial during budget difficulties.

In addition to championing federal grants, several state initiatives led by the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) have been significant. The EOTSS grants focused on upgrading fiber cabling between closets and buildings, enhancing networking infrastructure, and fortifying Wi-Fi capabilities. Furthermore, through grant funding from EOTSS, we have cemented a commitment to cybersecurity education for staff members. This holistic approach ensures educators and students a safe and secure digital learning environment.
