Resonanting statements, which were shared during the CoSN 2024 conference in April!
- A central office leader puts building principals in a position to support teachers and students successfully.
- Leadership is a commitment to children. Not imposition or title.
- Connect, advocate, and take risks.
- Students don’t get a do-over in their education. Never slow down!
- Leadership matters. Find the next leader to tap on the shoulder. You have a responsibility to identify the next wave of leaders.
- Look for leaders wherever you can find them. Old pathways don’t work. You don’t need to be a principal to become a Superintendent.
- Focus on doing your best for students and teachers right now. Stay in the moment and don’t focus on the next position. You won’t be as good and as engaged.
- Being a mentor is providing advice and sharing mistakes. Use your political capital to advance a career. Encourage someone publicly.
- The best leaders are learners!
