My daughter Shealagh Muriel worked hard on a take-home, independent project in her first-grade class. She worked on a mixture of digital and colored-pencil drawings and brought them into an iPad app called Book Creator. She then applied a voice over for the video. With the adoption of our five-year Strategic Technology Plan by School Committee this past June, the Educational Technology Department, in conjunction with teachers, administration, and the community, created a plan, serving as a roadmap for integrating digital learning. The Educational Technology Department continues to believe that technology will transform learning when it’s used in alignment with rigorous curriculum standards. Recently I stepped out of my comfort zone, a concept and process I frequently ask teachers to tackle with technology, and created a feature wall. With the help of my father and brother-in-law, we were able to completely change an ordinary wall into a “feature wall”.
If I had undertaken this project on my own, it would have been a disaster. However, when you have skilled folks available (think technology integration specialists in your building), a project on your own can take off and can be accomplished…look at the results! Read more…

After 10-months, the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District’s Strategic Technology Plan has been presented to the school committee and is now complete. Our technology plan is a strong, one that will provide a guide for the district through the 2021-2022 school year.
